September 8, 2011 – Parker Ranch, 4 miles north of Beatty, Nye Co., Hwy 95.

Overcast and thunderstorms today, always seems to be good for migrants. But nothing unusual. About 15-20 Orange-crowned warblers coming through simultaneously, all over in cottonwoods, willows, and rabbitbrush, noisily calling. Several Yellow warblers also. One MacGillivray’s warbler in rabbitbrush, one House wren, 2 Warbling vireos, a Lark sparrow, a Blue-gray gnatcatcher, and 2 Lazuli buntings made up the other migrants.

Other days this week have been hot and still, but September 5 had another wave of migrants: Orange-crowned warbler, Yellow warbler, Wilson’s warbler, Townsend warbler, MacGillivray’s warbler, Common yellowthroat, Western tanager, Warbling vireo, Willow flycatcher, “Western” flycatcher, Lazuli bunting, Barn swallow, White-faced ibis (1), and Rufous hummingbird (1 female).
