Swamp Sparrow at Wetlands Park

I found a Swamp Sparrow at Wetlands Park this morning at the east end of a dead-end trail between two of the major ponds. If anyone wants directions, just let me know at najames at lsu edu. I actually wrote “SWSP” in the sand in large letters at the site. Otherwise, not much of interest as far as I can tell — full list below, Van Remsen:

Wetlands Park, Clark, US-NV Feb 19, 2012 7:20 AM – 11:45 AM Protocol: Traveling 3.4 mile(s) Comments: Walked all trails and paths accessible from Duck Creek Trailhead at Wetlands Park including to Las Vegas Wash Park — 3.4 miles on foot not including backtracking. Calm early, then N/5-15 after 0900, diminishing landbird detections. ca. 45-60; mostly sunny to pc. Landbird density surprisingly low in dense vegetation along wash, and bird seemed exceptionally wary (low response to spishing and playback). 55 species
