NVBIRDS: this afternoon I had a first-yr Mew Gull @ Boulder Beach at about 4:30 PM. It was attracted to a flock of gulls (mostly Ring- billed) that were being fed by people along the shore. It flew in very close, landed briefly, but was harassed several times by the other gulls and even knocked into the water once; it flew off solo in the basic direction of Hemenway Harbor. I then raced down there and sacrificed my trail mix to try to bait in gulls, but all I got there were Ring-billed. [I did learn, however, that Ring-billeds will eat almonds, Brazil nuts, raisins, and dark chocolate chips.] I then went back to Boulder Beach in the fading light, sacrificed all remaining trail mix, but no bird.
