National Public Lands Day: On September 27th, 2008, RRAS and the Cub Scouts Pack 340 joined forces to perform habitat maintenance and clean-up at Wheeler Camp Springs.
It was a great day! Sanctuary Chair, John Bialecki, led the group of 23 kids and adults through the historic riparian area.
The kids did a superb job with helping to widen the paths, clear branches, and clean-up garbage and brush. We were really impressed with how hard the kids worked!
They filled 25 big garbage bags donated by “Don’t Trash Nevada”. Republic Services provided a dumpster and generously carted away everything for us.
Pam Nickels presented the kids a certificate of appreciation from the National Public Lands Day Program and other goodies supplied by our partners, Republic Services and Don’t Trash Nevada.
